Date is 90 minutes late to attend concert, gets annoyed when woman goes without him: 'We were already cutting it close'

Dating etiquette can sometimes get complicated, but the basics are very simple.

Unless your date has done something to deserve otherwise, it is basic common sense that you try to be engaging, respectful, and on time. While there may be circumstances where one of those things is a struggle, all you can do is apologize and try to rectify that behavior in the future. If it means that things don't work out, that is just the way of the wild west of dating.

While everybody has different likes and dislikes when it comes to picking a partner, one thing that is pretty much the same with all people is that they want to be treated with common courtesy. If you aren't capable of that, then you shouldn't be surprised if you get ghosted on a regular basis. 

It seems like it is a common problem, as many people have dating horror stories that amount to the other person not showing up in the way that they should. When somebody sends the signal that they are not that interested, it is only fair that their date reacts to that appropriately. It is not really justified to get upset about it.

  • A woman had been looking forward to going to a concert for some time and had invited a date along for the experience. She had clearly set out a timeline for him to arrive, so they would have time to eat something and then go to the venue, which was over an hour away.

    To her annoyance, it took him almost an hour and a half longer than it should have to come and meet her, and he didn't warn her beforehand. She decided that she would prefer to go to the concert alone, but she was left wondering if that was an overreaction.

  • We had plans to go together. The venue was far away (about 1 hour and 15 minutes), so I had told him beforehand that we should leave to the concert around 6:30 PM to make it on time. I had also told him that I hadn't eaten anything all day, so the plan was to get food before heading to the concert.
